Lot 3: Miller Rd
Lot 3 lies along Miller Road and runs behind the RCMP station with a narrow section extending down to Bowen Island Trunk Road.
The recently cleared northern portion is the future home of our new Fire Hall and Emergency Operations Centre. A gravel parking lot connects to the trails in Crippen Park and provides ample space for commuters to park during the day. Recently, Council agreed to enter into a lease agreement with the Bowen Island Health Centre Foundation to build a much-needed community medical services facility on a portion of Lot 3, pending completion of a subdivision and an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw.
The current zoning for the southern portions of Lot 3 is Village Commercial, which allows for a mix of residential and commercial uses. An amendment to the Land Use Bylaw will be required to allow for the use of the medical clinic.
Where are we now?
Council and staff are working through several overlapping processes to engage the community in creating an overall vision for the Community Lands. We are conducting public information sessions to inform a process for zoning, procuring and operating affordable housing projects. We are working on a land use planning exercise with interested stakeholders to develop ideas for a comprehensive plan for Lot 2. Alongside these initiatives, we have introduced zoning amendments to make portions of Lot 1 available for development over the coming years.
