Bowen Island Council is considering changes to the Land Use Bylaw to permit the sale of retail cannabis anywhere a retail use is permitted, subject to receiving a Provincial Licence. Land Use Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 530, 2020 was drafted to enact those changes.

Bowen Island receives funding for Mt. Gardner repeater upgrade

Bowen Island Municipality has received a $25,000 grant through the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and Training stream of the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF), a partnership between the Union of BC Municipalities and the Province of BC. The grant will fund a major upgrade to the Mt. Gardner radio repeater, improving radio communication capacity across the island.

We're hiring: Bylaw Services Officer I

Bowen Island Municipality has an opening for a Bylaw Services Officer 1 at 35 hours per week. Generally, hours worked will be between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, but weekend and evening work will be required.

Duties will include gaining compliance with municipal bylaws through education and direct enforcement and acting as Wharfinger and Animal Control Officer.
