BOWEN ISLAND – Bowen Island Municipality is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Chief Financial Officer, Sheila McCutcheon.

Sheila brings extensive experience from both the public and private sectors, specializing in local government finances for over nine years. Having a broad scope of experience in both financial and corporate administration, Sheila is known for providing strategic financial planning to achieve Council’s objectives in order to move communities forward. She has achieved both her Local Government Administration Certificate and Province of BC Board of Examiners Local Government Service Delivery Certification.

Prior to entering the local government sector, Sheila worked for the College of New Caledonia in northern BC for thirteen years, overseeing the finances for Community and Continuing Education, International Education and Aboriginal Support Services.  Having worked in the lower mainland in previous years as an accountant for a large automobile dealership, returning south to join Bowen Island Municipality is a timely and fortunate move.

“I am very excited to be returning to the coast once again and serving Bowen Island Municipality and the community.” said Ms. McCutcheon.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the municipality’s senior management team, overseeing budget management, financial planning, asset management and risk management. The CFO works closely with the Chief Administrative Officer to provide advice and guidance to Council to make financially sound decisions, and provides operational management to finance staff.

Ms. McCutcheon will begin work on Monday, August 23, 2021.

“We are so pleased to welcome Sheila to Bowen Island,” said Liam Edwards, Chief Administrative Officer, “her skills and experience will bring a valuable contribution to our team and our community.”
