Family Day 2026 – Seedy Saturday!
Seedy Saturday comes to Bowen Island!
Join local garden enthusiasts on February 14 for a relaxed, community-driven day celebrating all things gardening.
Seedy Saturday brings together local growers, hobby gardeners, vendors, and anyone curious about starting or expanding their garden so they can learn from one another, exchange ideas and seeds, and purchase seeds and plants in a social setting.
The Community Centre will be the host site for discussions, hands-on workshops, seed and tool swap, kid’s activities, and more!
Seedy Saturday offers a chance to gather inspiration, learn from others, and be part of a supportive, green-thumbed community.

Canada Day Reimagined 2026: Wednesday July 1

Canada Day Reimagined: A Community Event for Bowen Islanders
Celebrate Canada Day in a new way! Join us at the Community Centre for an all-ages community event that focuses on reconciliation, celebration, and community. It’s a day to connect, reflect on our cultural and colonial heritage, and explore what being Canadian means today.
Get Involved as a Volunteer
We need volunteers to help make this event a success! If you’d like to lend a hand on the day, contact Recreation. Volunteers must be 12 or older.
Become a Vendor
Are you a local business, artist, or community organization? Join us as a vendor!
- Community Organizations: (non-profits, causes, interest groups, educators…) Tables are free, and we encourage interactive components to engage attendees and connect with the theme of reconciliation, celebration, and community. Examples: quizzes, games, or challenges!
- Local Merchants: ($20 per table) Showcase your products while celebrating our community spirit!
Please note: all tables are set up outdoors in direct sunlight, and we’re unable to provide tents—please bring your own source of shade.
Food Vendors
We welcome food and beverage vendors! Please plan to use your own coolers for keeping items safe, as we can’t supply power.
Let’s come together as a community to reimagine Canada Day—celebrating our unique Bowen spirit with respect and reflection.

Grades 5, 6, 7 Halloween Dance 2025 – Thursday October 23
Each October, Bowen Rec hosts the annual Halloween Dance! A highly anticipated event, it features costume contests, fun games, dancing, and Halloween-themed treats. Kids look forward to showing off their costumes and dancing the night away with friends year after year.

Light up Bowen
Join Bowen Rec at the annual Light Up Bowen celebration, where we bring extra holiday magic! Kids gather to decorate cookies, write letters to Santa, and enjoy festive fun while the community comes together to celebrate the island’s holiday lights. This family favorite brings warmth and cheer to the season every year.

Youth Crafters at the BICS Craft Fair
Every holiday season, young artists and makers are invited to take part in the BICS Craft Fair, where they proudly sell their handmade crafts to the community. This year, Bowen Rec is here to support youth crafters! This annual tradition gives youth a chance to showcase their talents, build entrepreneurial skills, and join the festivities with local artisans and shoppers.
